Speech Pathologist, Clinical Practice

Our services are provided at sites across greater Sydney including the Blue Mountains.
About the role
Consult and engage with key staff to facilitate quality health related supports for Sylvanvale clients. Oversee implementation of the NDIS High Intensity Skill Descriptor Dysphagia Support through the upskilling of Sylvanvale workers.
Responsibilities will include:
- Support managers to develop or obtain effective personal support plans to meet client needs and the requirements of the NDIS Practice Standard.
- Provide guidance and advice about the quality of Mealtime Management Plans and their implementation.
- Provide guidance and advice about disorders of communication and swallowing
- Deliver dysphagia training across the organisational wide using an evidence-based best practice approach.
- Review, modify and conduct competency assessment training of Workers implementing Mealtime Management Plans.
- Develop regular reporting and produce reports regarding the quality of health supports and compliance obligations for review by the Executive and Board.
- Facilitate collaboration with multidisciplinary medical and allied health supports providers and participate in complex case reviews for individual clients.

Skills and qualifications
- Certified membership of Speech Pathology Australia.
- Experience working with adults with communication and swallowing disorders.
- Ability to design, review and enhance clients personal support plans in meal time management and develop training resources and materials for workers and managers where required.
- Demonstrated ability to engage constructively and respectfully with individuals of diverse backgrounds.
- Proven ability for critical thinking and problem solving.
- Excellent written communications and an ability to present information in a simple way.
- Intermediate MS Office skills.
- Flexibility to travel across the greater Sydney metropolitan area and Blue Mountains areas.
- Adheres to the Code of Ethics set out by Speech Pathology Australia.
Desirable
- Principles underpinning the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities and other relevant declarations, conventions and protections for participants. Demonstratable understanding of human rights principles.
- Practical understanding and/or experience of the NDIS Practice Standards and Quality Indicators and High Intensity Supports Skills Descriptors and working with people with disabilities.
- Coaching and/or mentoring experience.
Successful applicants will require a current NSW Drivers Licence. An offer will be subject to a police clearance, a current Working with Children Check and a NDIS Worker Screening Check.
