Product Development Technologist -12 months Temporary Maternity Cover Position

Working at our Mars Food site in Wyong, NSW where ideation, innovation and creation are developed under the one roof, you will have access to a world class kitchen where you will play a key role in

fuelling our MASTERFOODS® innovation pipeline. As the Product Development Technologist, you will work with collaborative cross functional teams to develop consumer led concepts, translate those concepts into working prototypes, and develop our newest products. In addition, the product development technologist will provide maintenance of the existing portfolio, help drive value leadership and champion product quality.

Key Responsibilities:

  • New Product Development: which delivers business growth, with consideration to product brief, consumer needs, food safety, shelf stability, integrity, and activity timings.
  • Drive concept innovation from consumer insights through iterative prototyping working with Franchise, Packaging and Process.
  • Driving Value Leadership projects via identifying cost improvement areas within our current recipes and procedures to help unlock margin to invest.
  • Provide all supporting documentation – artwork, Radar recipe, PIFs and finished product specifications, compliance and ensures product quality and food safety.
  • Driving and supporting our Food Purpose.
  • Culinary skills would be beneficial.

What will you bring to the role?

  • A genuine energy and passion for the food industry and culinary.
  • 2-3 years’ experience in a Food Technologist role with demonstrated success of your portfolio.
  • Proven ability to create collaborative relationships across functions, forming strong partnerships.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to interact and demonstrate new product innovations to our key customers. 
  • Strong knowledge of product development from bench top to full scale production.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Food Science, Nutrition or equivalent degree preferred.
