Position Overview:
As the Head of Mechanical Design, you will lead the mechanical engineering department, guiding a talented team in designing groundbreaking solutions. This role involves strategic leadership, team management, and fostering a collaborative environment to drive project success. By adopting emerging technologies and continuously improving processes, you will play a key role in achieving the company's growth objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Strategic Leadership
  • Develop and implement the mechanical design department's strategic roadmap, setting clear goals, priorities, timelines, and resource allocation aligned with organizational objectives.
  • Identify and leverage opportunities for technological advancements to enhance efficiency and profitability.
  • Utilize industry insights and market trends to drive informed decisions, positioning the team at the forefront of innovation.
Team Management
  • Drive the growth and development of the Mechanical Design team through mentoring, training, and fostering a culture of continuous learning.
  • Cultivate a collaborative environment that promotes innovation, regular idea-sharing, and teamwork through structured communication channels.
  • Work cross-functionally to recruit, retain, and develop top talent, mentoring team members into leadership roles as the company grows.
Budget Oversight
  • Manage the department's budget with precision, focusing on planning, expense monitoring, and financial reporting.
  • Ensure resources are optimally allocated to meet project and business objectives while utilizing advanced tools like ASANA, Everhour, Employment Hero, and GANTT for efficient project tracking and budget performance.
Collaborative Engagement
  • Serve as a liaison between the mechanical design team and other departments, clients, and external stakeholders, ensuring seamless collaboration and alignment of project goals with client expectations.
  • Actively resolve challenges and maintain clear communication channels to foster successful project outcomes.
Project Allocation & Oversight
  • Strategically allocate tasks within the team based on individual strengths, ensuring optimized productivity and project success.
  • Oversee project progress to ensure timely delivery, manage resources effectively, and maintain high standards of design quality and documentation accuracy.
Solution-Oriented Approach
  • Collaborate with the Solutions team to align project proposals with divisional budgets, timelines, and objectives, providing strategic insights for resource allocation and risk assessments.
Performance Evaluation
  • Set and monitor comprehensive KPIs for team members and regularly conduct performance reviews to identify areas for improvement.
  • Partner with the Operations and People & Culture teams to streamline onboarding and align training processes with performance objectives.
Innovation and Technology Integration
  • Stay at the forefront of technological advancements in mechanical engineering, integrating relevant innovations to enhance team capabilities.
  • Encourage experimentation and adoption of new tools and methodologies to deliver optimized design solutions.
Regulatory Compliance and Risk Mitigation
  • Ensure that all mechanical design projects comply with industry regulations and standards, implementing risk mitigation strategies throughout the project lifecycle.
