About the role

The Senior Analyst, Actuarial Services will be responsible for providing analysis on claim performance trends to assist the Actuarial team of the Return to Work Victoria Business Unit in understanding and communicating key drivers of WorkSafe’s experience.

This position has specific responsibilities for the delivery of key actuarial data, the analysis of scheme trends and development of monitoring tools and actuarial models.

The Actuarial team is responsible for the management of the valuation of the Scheme and has strong relationships with WorkSafe’s operational divisions and works closely with all aspects of the claims management process.

Key Accountabilities

  • Development of key statistical data and monitoring tools for analysis of Scheme trends.
  • Undertake statistical and actuarial modelling with regards to specific benefit types.
  • Provide ad-hoc support to the actuarial team.
  • Provision of key statistical data for the scheme actuarial valuations.
  • Provide support for the monthly Statistical Case Estimate (SCE) model runs, monitoring and model development.

About you

You will be an experienced analyst who is curious and inquisitive by nature. Your stakeholder engagement skills will compliment your passion for delivering and making an impact for both your team and stakeholder groups. With strong deadline management skills you are also someone who is able to work autonomously with limited supervision when required whilst also being collaborative as part of a team.

Skills and experience

  • Demonstrated ability to problem solve, undertake effective research and analysis and produce accurate reports
  • Ability to present insights statistically, visually, and in easy-to-understand language
  • Advanced statistical, quantitative and/or financial modelling skills combined with a demonstrated capacity to develop solutions to business challenges
  • Experience in, and a strong knowledge of SAS and Excel. Knowledge of additional programming languages and/or tools desirable
  • Experience and knowledge of Workers Compensation desirable
  • You will have tertiary qualifications in an appropriate discipline which may include postgraduate study
