Our client is seeking an experienced Carpenter to join their team in South Morang, Victoria.

Tasks required include:

  • Laying out, measuring, cutting assembling and joining various materials.
  • Measuring, marking, cutting and fixing materials.
  • Cutting materials with hand and power tools.
  • Assembling formwork and foundations.
  • Framing floors, roofs walls and partitions, installing windows.
  • Erecting framework, laying sub-flooring.
  • Nailing pre- fabricated roof trusses into place.
  • Installing structures and fixtures of various wood and non-wood materials.
  • Removing surface defects
  • Trimming overlapping edges of wood.
  • Reading and interpreting blueprints and drawings.
  • Planning and communicating requirements within the team, identifying and estimating the quantity of materials needed to complete a job, and estimating the time period.
  • Using knowledge of the qualities of wood (grain, density, flexibility) to select the best material for the job.
  • Checking the accuracy with the use of levels, rules, plumb bobs, framing squares, and making any necessary adjustments to ensure quality.
  • Using a variety of hand and power tools safely and effectively.
  • Routine maintenance of machines and power tools.

Requirements:

  • Certificate III including at least two (2) years of on-the-job training, or Certificate IV in Carpentry
  • Minimum two (2) years of relevant Carpentry experience
  • Valid drivers licence.
