About the role

We are growing rapidly at our Mt Gambier facility with a major construction development taking place over the next 5-7 years with ongoing work beyond that.

For this full time, permanent position, we are seeking an experienced and driven Engineering specialist to continuously monitor the performance of the plant control systems, identifying solutions to technical issues and identify improvement opportunities within the existing process through optimising line speed, efficiency, productivity, whilst delivering a quality final product.

In this role you will be responsible for:

Identifying, planning and implementing key process improvement opportunities Driving improvements in line efficiencies and productivity targets Collaborate with the Production teams to analyse performance data, identifying continuous improvement opportunities. Facilitating continuous improvement initiatives designed to eliminate waste, non-value added activities and improve performance across safety, quality, line speed, efficiency, productivity, and costs Lead engineering projects as part of project team or teams that manage project governance, technical, procurement, material, construction, design coordination, start-up and close out Complete drawings, instructions and specifications for projects where required. Provide technical support for the team Supervise and provide coaching and development to apprentices

About you

As our preferred candidate, you will have 

A minimum of 5 years’ experience within the engineering field, preferably working in a timber, timber fibre, manufacturing or heavy industry environment Excellent leadership skills, ideally supervisory experience in a manufacturing or heavy industry environment. Proven experience in providing engineering expertise on diverse projects, including the installation of production processing machinery. Computer literacy - Microsoft Office, Microsoft Project, Microsoft Teams Effective communication / relationship building skills Strong time management and organisational skills High technical and analytical skills Strong numeric, oral and written skills Knowledge of relevant legislation, Australian Standards and Government policy guidelines, which govern safety, engineering design, environmental assessment for the implementation of engineering projects. Be accustomed with continuous improvement techniques (eg Lean, TPM, Kaizen) Demonstrated change management and transformation experience

To be successful, you must be motivated and be willing to put in the effort to complete the role to the high standard required. Attention to detail is paramount. 

As part of the selection process, applicants must be prepared to undergo a pre-employment medical examination which includes functional, audiometric, vision, drug and alcohol testing.
