Job Description

OB DESCRIPTION:  To support the Ocean Import Manager in the running of the department within the branch by assisting the Ocean Import product growth in the market place through focus on Operations, Finance, Sales, People, Systems and Culture in adherence to the company's policies and procedures. Responsible of all aspects of the operational team, reporting to the Ocean Import Manager.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: 

Oversee the day-to-day operations of the ocean import department, ensuring efficient and timely processing of inbound shipments. Assign tasks to import coordinators, monitor their workload, and provide guidance and support as needed.  Collaborate with account management and customer service teams to identify customer needs, address service issues, and explore opportunities for service improvement. Monitor key performance indicators, and implement corrective actions or process improvements as needed. Identify opportunities to streamline import processes, eliminate bottlenecks, and enhance operational efficiency through automation, or workflow optimisation.

Qualifications

Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in ocean freight forwarding, import/export operations, or related logistics field. Proven experience in supervisory or team leadership roles, within an import department is preferred. Comprehensive understanding of ocean freight operations, including import regulations, documentation, customs procedures, and compliance requirements. Familiarity with international trade terms and shipping documentation such as bills of lading, commercial invoices, and packing lists. Strong attention to detail and accuracy in processing shipping documentation, ensuring compliance with regulations, and minimising errors in data entry. Commitment to providing exceptional customer service, resolving inquiries or issues promptly, and maintaining positive relationships with colleges, clients and service providers. Experience in leading a team of import coordinators, providing guidance, training, and performance feedback to enhance team productivity and competence.
