Head of Synchronisation Australasia

Job Description:

Warner Music Australia is a proud record label who understands that every artist and label partner is as unique as every music fan. We are a fearless, creative team of obsessive music fans who believe in each other and are committed to excellence for the international artists we care and work for locally and our beautiful, diverse and talented local roster that we call family.

We ensure that we are always adding value as a label and every day we work with this in mind. Our team brings creativity, compassion, experience, passion and a global network. We take care in delivering.

With our broad and diverse roster of new stars and legendary artists, Warner Music Group is home to a collection of the best-known record labels in the music industry including Asylum, Atlantic, East West, Elektra, FFRR, Fueled by Ramen, Nonesuch, Parlophone, Rhino, Roadrunner, Sire, Warner Records, Warner Classics and Warner/Chappell Music, one of the world's leading music publishers with a catalogue of more than one million copyrights worldwide.

Our Sydney office is situated on the land which traditionally the Gadigal people of the Eora nation were custodians of, and our Melbourne office operates on Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung country.

Music is a force for good in the world, and the music industry is made up of artists, songwriters, and people from every background. We aspire to lead the way in opportunities for all.

Job Title: HEAD of SYNCHRONISATION

A little bit about our team:

The Synchronisation Team at Warner Music work across both Australia and New Zealand and pride ourselves on being agile, dynamic, artist focused, and solution driven with our clients. We're a small but mighty team working collaboratively with Marketing, A&R and Artist Management to explore creative, commercial opportunities for our artists and their music.

Why this could be your next big break:

This is an exciting leadership opportunity for the right candidate to take on the full responsibility for the synchronisation business at a respected major label. You will be managing client relationships, working internally to discover the best new music and hidden catalogue gems and have the pleasure of dealing with an incredible global network, whilst leading and managing one team member.

Here you’ll get to:

The successful candidate will be focused primarily on working with Music Supervisors, TV Networks and Production Companies to deliver the best music solutions for their programs and productions.

Working across creative pitching, deal negotiation, clearance with managers or affiliates and supplying of assets/paperwork; this role will see any Film & TV uses through from start to finish.

About you:

You’re a music loving, focused and diligent Sync professional with at least 5 years of experience in the Australian and/or New Zealand music industry. You are an experienced and talented deal maker who can both close a deal and execute the required admin with a great eye for detail. You’re just as comfortable picking up the phone to work through a project as you are working autonomously to adhere to deadlines. You can juggle the needs of the internal business with those of external parties and are ready to take on a challenge with a rewarding result you can see on the screen.

It would be music to our ears if you had:

Experience with music rights and well connected within the synchronisation industry and the core client base.

Ability to handle financial negotiations representing the organisation and associated artists and management.

Leadership experience in a creative industry.

The ability to administer contracts.

Experience deciphering a music production brief.

An understanding of the roles/responsibilities of the music industry as a whole.

A great ear for the best sounding music to be placed in Film/TV moments.

Why join us?

Here at Warner Music Group, we’re all about our people. We are one global company made up exclusively of knowledgeable, passionate, and creative people.

It is the mission of every member of the WMG team around the world to create a nurturing environment for artists, songwriters, and the people behind the music - at every stage of their career. We strive to set WMG apart by embracing a philosophy of innovation – it’s part of our company's DNA.
