Sydney, Australia Virgin Australia Full time

Hello. We’re Virgin Australia. And we’re back (in a big way).

We’re the airline that’s always done things a little different. Our way. The Virgin way. For us, flying is so much more than simply taking off and landing (although we understand that is quite important). It’s about going the extra mile, in the air and on the ground, to create authentic experiences that put our guests firmly at the heart of everything we do.

No matter our role – we are united by our ambition to be the most loved airline in Australia, and always go one step further for our customers, colleagues and our wider community.

Who we’re looking for:

We are looking for a full-time, permanent Crew Training Instructor to join our bustling Sydney training team. In the role of Crew Training Instructor, you will be responsible for researching, designing, developing, and maintaining training materials. Additionally, you will deliver essential training and certification for both Flight and Cabin Crew.

Collaborating closely with the Sydney team, you will provide support in the delivery of training and management courses.

In addition, you will:

  • Maintain compliance with all Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) Part 121 regulations and other training requirements
  • Complete regular reviews of the portfolio to analyse content, evaluate effectiveness and improve on quality
  • Design, research, develop and enhance courseware material
  • Implement training packages that accurately reflect the needs of the business.
  • Design and/or manage material including presentations, instructor notes, power-point presentations, positional workbooks, guidance material, training forms, timetables and procedures, relevant to portfolio held
  • Ensure all courseware is approved and document controlled
  • Design and develop training efficiencies using current training advancements, platforms and trends
  • Hold and maintain CASA Instructor Part 121 approvals
  • Accurately complete and process all relevant documentation and certifications as required by the company and statutory obligations
  • Delivery of training to the required standards
  • Assessment and certification of crew
  • Ensure all failure processes are followed and crew members are removed in a timely manner from operational duties
  • Support and upskill new instructors on their pathways to CASA approvals
  • Appraise, develop and provide feedback to Flight and Cabin Crew while in training or during recurrent programs
  • Maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders

You’ll be great in this role if you:

  • Have experience in course development, delivery and assessment
  • Are an experienced presenter/facilitator
  • Are a natural team player
  • Have experience working in aviation
  • Have the ability to motivate others
  • Have proven success in providing feedback and developing others
  • CASA Instructor approval (desirable)
  • Cert IV in Workplace Training and Assessment or Relevant Tertiary Qualification (desirable)
  • Are a current Ad-hoc Instructor
