Job Description

The Networks team is part of the Networks, Infrastructure and Corporate Technology group which also supports the technology infrastructure including computer, storage and ERP systems. 

The Nine network includes sites across Australia including offices, television production, transmission, print production and Radio studios. The network team operates the local area network, wide area networks, wireless LAN connectivity, fixed telephony and the core professional media networks.

This is a large-scale national network with multiple end-user sites, multiple data centres, multiple cloud connections and multi-layered cyber security programs. It is a complex network including a mix of firewalls, virtual routers, security zones, multicast routing, trunking and cloud interconnections.

Reporting to Group Director, Networks, Infrastructure and Corporate Technology the Network Operations Manager manages a team (10-15) of network engineers and communications technology professionals to build, operate and support the Corporate IT, Data Centres and Broadcast Operations networks. Due to the network size and complexity, automation of network management is a key priority.

Responsibilities:

People Management: Team goals of network availability, suitability, security and performance Management of On-Call Roster:  team priorities for incident management, response times and service levels  Service Management: Working with the Business Services team. Create dashboards and maintain service metrics. Service the needs for TV broadcast, radio broadcast, print production, streaming content, corporate users, corporate applications Technology Management: Working with the Network Architect and Senior Network Engineers, design and manage projects to improve the management and security of the network Stakeholder Engagement: Take a lead-role in engaging senior stakeholders across the business, negotiating change windows and reporting on incidents affecting network services External Stakeholders:  Maintain vendor relationships with suppliers such as Cisco, Fortinet and Telstra; managing service agreements and coordinating procurement activities Project Management: Specific project resource allocation to continually evolve the changing role of networking to support a dynamic environment and media transmission system while maintaining service levels.

Qualifications

What we would like to see on your resume:

Degree qualified in a technical field related to computer science, software development, automation or computer networking Proven experience leading technical teams in operations (service management), process improvement, incident response and trouble-shooting Management of large, complex network based on Cisco hardware and software Management of Software Development and automation using agile methodology.

Highly desirable:

Development of Software Defined Networks, Infrastructure as code and scripted cloud automation  Knowledge of advanced networking and Cyber security principles Experience with Cloud networking in AWS, GCP and Azure including Direct interconnections and peering Experience with professional media networks including codecs, multicast, packet duplication and precision timing.
