About the OPPORTUNITY
We have an exciting opportunity for an Autonomous Aerospace Guidance Navigation & Control (GNC) Lead Engineer to join our Red Ochre Autonomy and Sensors Business Unit based at Richmond VIC.
We embrace flexible work arrangements at BAE Systems Australia, such as working a 9-day fortnight and hybrid working.
You will be responsible for supporting the MQ-28 Ghost Bat Engineering Manager in providing guidance and advice on the technical solution in the GNC field and application to Unmanned Air Vehicles (UAV's).
The successful applicant will also lead the GNC team in the technical development of autonomous GNC solutions to optimise the operational capabilities of the MQ-28 Ghost Bat uncrewed air vehicle
Key responsibilities include:
- Lead the development of models and simulations of complex vehicles and systems
- Liaise with the customer and supplier stakeholders in support of UAV behaviors and performance, models and simulation development, and verification and validation
- Lead the development of algorithms and control systems using model based design methodologies within Matlab and Simulink
- Lead the documentation of requirements and verification activities for both models and control systems
- Lead and perform testing and assurance activities for models and simulations to the required standards including the verification and validation of models, algorithms and control systems
- Perform system engineering activities including requirements management, candidate solution development, system design, system analysis, integration, system tests, acceptance tests and certification
- Provide direction and guidance for the GNC team and actively manage development and succession planning within the team
About YOU
- Demonstrated understanding of complex control systems
- Industry experience in a control-systems/GNC engineering role
- Extensive experience within the Aerospace Engineering discipline with demonstrated experience in the Technical Development and Systems Design of engineering projects
- Extensive experience in effective use of Engineering Process, Methods, Tools and Infrastructure
- Defence security clearance or eligibility to obtain
- Eligibility to be cleared for International Traffic In Arms (ITAR) regulations
