About the role

V/Line’s North-West region ( Wycheproof) is seeking a dedicated Rail Track Labourer to join their maintenance team. In this role, you will report to the Track Supervisor and work with your team to perform key tasks including laying, aligning, repairing, and maintaining railway tracks throughout the region. 

The current rostered hours are Monday to Friday, 7:30 am to 4:00 pm, with a rostered day off every fortnight.

Other responsibilities include:

As directed, participate in the replacement and/or renewal of track and crossing materials i.e., sleepers, rail, ballast, and fastenings. Clean up plant equipment and worksite and participate in general site maintenance. Use and maintain hand tools and minor mechanical equipment. Ensure all work is performed in accordance with appropriate OH&S standards and regulations. Flexibility to work overtime and away from home as required.

Our ideal candidate will also meet the following requirements:

Valid Victorian Driver’s License. Must have completed Year 10 or equivalent. Previous experience in a manual labouring role is advantageous. Strong awareness for risk and safety practices & the ability to use hand tools. Good knowledge of MS Word & Excel. Demonstrated alignment to V/Line’s values of responsiveness, integrity, impartiality, accountability, respect, leadership, and human rights.
