12 month contract for experienced Service Designers for a Federal Government Agency. As an integral member of the Participant Experience Design functions, you will be responsible for delivering quality outcomes and leading key initiatives within the organisation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead research efforts to identify insights and contribute to Agency understanding of information
  • Oversee the design and documentation of current state service to identify participant and staff experience and business processes
  • Drive process design improvements to enhance service delivery
  • Advocate for the voice and experience of participants and stakeholders through work processes
  • Facilitate design-thinking sessions with service users to design and test future service processes, channels, and experiences
  • Apply in-depth knowledge of the agency and its related impacts across work areas
  • Ensure end-to-end service experiences align with the Digital Service Standard, based on participant and staff needs
  • Evaluate proposed solutions and designs at conceptual and tactical levels
  • Provide guidance and coaching to team members while meeting the needs of service users with quality deliverables

Key Requirements:

  • Human-centred design: Proficiency in designing services and experiences prioritising end user needs and preferences
  • User research: Ability to conduct primary and secondary research, including developing research plans and guides, conducting interviews, surveys, and workshops to gain insights
  • Persona development: Creating user personas representing different user groups and their characteristics
  • Journey mapping: Skill in creating user journey maps to visualise and improve user experience
  • Service blueprinting: Proficiency in service blueprinting to define and map out service processes and enablers
  • Co-Design and Facilitation: Ability to lead co-design sessions with stakeholders and users to gather input and ideas
  • Design thinking: Strong understanding of design thinking methodologies and approaches
  • Usability testing: Experience in conducting usability testing to validate service design concepts and products

Desirable Skills:

  • Visual design: Proficiency in visual design principles to create aesthetically pleasing designs
  • Cross-functional collaboration: Ability to collaborate effectively with team members and stakeholders
  • Agile Methodologies: Familiarity with agile methodologies like Agile or Kanban
