The role

Join South East Water's Digital Utility group as a Data Analyst, with a critical focus on supporting us to minimise our non-revenue water. 

Reporting directly to the Group Manager Analytics and Performance, and working closely with the Non-Revenue Water Manager, the Data Analyst will lead key analytics and reporting initiatives to assess, develop and deploy priority reporting requirements to actively manage non-revenue water as well as initiatives to reduce non-revenue water and more broadly to support our digital utility and metering programs. This role is responsible for generating business value regarding non-revenue water, as well as other themes, from analytics both in how we use reporting to inform business decisions and also how we can automate BAU processes through dashboarding and applications.

Who are you?

To be considered for this opportunity, you will be able to demonstrate you possess the following key skills, experience or qualifications:

  • Tertiary qualification in a quantitative discipline e.g. Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering
  • 3+ years’ experience across the utility sector and data analytics with extensive experience in data visualisation and analytics
  • Understanding of the water industry, non-revenue water, times-series and GIS data
  • Highly developed communication skills to influence change and uptake of key data reporting solutions into the organisation
  • Demonstrated experience in one of the following disciplines: operations research, mathematics, data mining, machine learning and computer engineering
  • Experience with a wide range of data management and visualisation tools (e.g. SQL, Power BI)
  • Advantageous to have experience with coding and analytics systems (e.g. Python, R, Azure, DataBricks)
  • Experience in end-to-end data analytics and visualization from business requirements and data capture through to solution deployment
  • Ability to efficiently turn data into knowledge through visualisation and reporting
  • Dynamic personality with an ability to quickly establish trust and rapport at all levels of an organisation
  • Outstanding stakeholder management skills demonstrating an ability to manage and deliver within a complex and highly collaborative environment of multi-disciplined teams
  • Significant problem-solving ability to deal with complex and technical solutions
