Job Description
We have an opportunity for an experienced Mining Superintendent to join the Mining team at Curragh North. In this key leadership role, you will report to the Curragh North Operations Manager SSE, overseeing the team tasked with ensuring the secure mining and transport of waste and coal to the Curragh North Run of Mine (ROM) within or under budget constraints, while prioritising safety and efficiency in all mining operations at Curragh North.
This role entails the responsibility of maintaining accountability for our primary contracting partner, ensuring their adherence to specific deliverables and desired outcomes. Key performance indicators (KPIs) spanning Health & Safety, Quality, Production, and Costs will be central to your oversight, as you drive performance excellence across all facets of our mining operations.
The key to success in this role will include:
- Lead safety initiatives and ensure compliance with SHMS and relevant regulations, including S55 Management Structure.
- Manage environmental impact in alignment with Curragh EMS.
- Oversee responsibilities outlined in the Mining Services Contract, including safety improvement, risk management, production optimisation, operational efficiency, and compliance.
- Contribute to mine planning processes and manage relevant contracts to achieve business objectives.
- Provide clear expectations, regular review, and constructive feedback to team members, leading by example.
- Manage costs to budget, forecasting, and rectifying variances.
- Ensure compliance with mining standards for assigned projects.
- Drive continuous improvement and positive change through collaborative practices.

- Demonstrated experience in Open Cut Mining operations
- Demonstrated experience in a Leadership position
- Commercial acumen, contract management and analytical skills
- Statutory requirements: RIIRIS201D, RIIRIS301D, RIIWHS301D, RIICOM301D
