About the Role & Team

The Solution Architect role serves several key purposes: acting as the lead technology advisor for projects and initiatives, designing "fit for purpose" technology solutions aligned with architecture principles, patterns, policies, and standards. The role involves collaborating with business and technology stakeholders to co-create solutions that meet business requirements while considering delivery realities such as cost, timelines, quality, risk, and strategic market positioning. It aims to improve the productivity and competency of the overall architecture community through active participation in architecture ceremonies, knowledge sharing, collaboration, a continuous improvement mindset, and providing proactive feedback and support to team members. Additionally, the Solution Architect stays aligned with broader strategic initiatives, adheres to architectural guardrails and strategic roadmaps, and collaboratively assesses changes from IT programs to ensure efficiency, cost optimization, and management of technical debt.

The Architecture team provides thought leadership to identify opportunities to take an enterprise approach to transforming a business capability. They take a structured approach to understand business problems, identify synergies across Business Units and create a compelling case for change to invest in delivering enterprise outcomes using shared technology platforms to provide cost effective, flexible, and fit for purpose solutions.

What you’ll be doing

• Promote the importance of good architecture and the costs of tactical decision-making.

• Establish collaborative relationships and be respected as a leader in both technology and business.

• Shape investments and drive architectural direction, fostering re-use of components, simplifying technology, reducing tech debt, and decommissioning legacy assets.

• Ensure the correct application of intentional architectures, principles, patterns, standards, and policies.

• Continuously seek improvements in the architectural function, eliminating waste and enhancing ways of working.

• Participate in planning, high-level design, and exploring solution alternatives while considering the architectural vision and capturing key assumptions, risks, and decisions.

• Provide architectural oversight during delivery, supporting the incremental realization of strategic architecture through Agile processes and managing emergent architecture.

• Act as the single point of contact for all architecture concerns relating to projects and initiatives.

• Build strong relationships with business units, portfolio, project delivery, change, platform, cyber, and support teams.

About You

• Expertise in solution architecture and digital solution architecture.

• Relevant experience in either Energy and/or Telco.

• Tertiary qualification in technology or technology-related subjects, or equivalent industry experience.

• Advanced understanding of integration, data, infrastructure, and security concepts, with deep knowledge of their implementation across the enterprise to drive delivery efficiencies and excellent customer outcomes.

• Proven experience working at a senior level in a matrix organization where results are driven through influence.

• Broad and hands-on experience in various architecture roles, including Business Architect, Enterprise/Domain Architect, Application Architect, Data Architect, and Security Architect across different industry sectors.
