About the role

This position is a fantastic opportunity to launch a rewarding career within the aquatic and leisure industry and join a supportive local council. Join our high performing teams operating across Glen Eira Spors and Aquatic Centre (GESAC) and the newly developed Carnegie Memorial Swimming Pool.

Key responsibilities include:

Supervise patrons in and around the aquatic area Set up and pack up the aquatic area for various water activities Implement emergency/first aid/resuscitation procedures as required Ensure customers adhere to centre rules and policies Perform a range of cleaning and maintenance duties

About you

We are looking for individuals who:

Can think on their feet and respond appropriately in high pressured situations Demonstrate initiative and are friendly and approachable Interact confidently with a diverse range of people Are passionate and enthusiastic about providing a safe aquatic environment for all Are available early mornings, late afternoons and weekends

Have the following qualifications:

Current Australian Pool Lifeguard Award (or willing to obtain) Current Provide First Aid Certificate (or willing to obtain) Working with Children Check (Employee)

Glen Eira Leisure Centres have operating hours ranging from 5.00am - 9.30pm. This role will be required to work within these times and must be available on weekends.

Pool Lifeguard Qualification:

If successful, you will also be invited to attend a two-day Pool Lifeguard qualification course. This will be subsidised by Glen Eira Leisure.

Prior to application, please ensure that you are available for both of the days of your chosen course.

Mon 23rd and Tues 24th September 2024 at GESAC Wed 2nd and Thurs 3rd October 2024 at GESAC Sat 5th and Sun 6th October 2024 at GESAC

**Please note a First Aid Level 2 qualification Is required for the successful completion of the Lifeguard course

Important Information  

This position is subject to satisfactory Police Check, Employee Working with Children Check, and proof of two COVID-19 vaccinations or authorised medical exemption (in accordance with Council’s COVID-19 Protective Behaviours Policy) prior to commencement.

Pre-employment checks are not used by Glen Eira City Council to prevent any applicant from applying for this position. Each application will be considered on its merits.
