About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated Injury and Wellbeing Officer to join our dynamic WHS team. This full time role is responsible for staff wellbeing, injury management and supporting return to work for our people. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in transforming our IRT work environment and culture by providing programs, advice and support to our staff and leadership teams. This role is pivotal in enhancing health and wellbeing at IRT through innovative programmes, promotion and dedication to health and wellbeing aligned with organisational objectives, embedding a resilient health and safety culture within IRT. Minimum of 2+ year experience in injury management in workplace-based rehabilitation and assessments. 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES 

The Injury and Wellbeing Officer twill deliver technical and operational advice across range of areas to coordinate early intervention services for both work-related and non-work related injury/illness to support our employees recover at work . 

  • Coordinate and facilitate injury management and recovery at work through liaison with employees, supervisors and managers, and where appropriate coordinate referrals to external providers for assessment, treatment and/or training. 
  • Notify, report and triage all incidents resulting in injury/illness to the relevant insurer  
  • Work with internal stakeholders to collect and collate all documentation required for the insurer, regulator, third-party representation, broker as required  
  • Develop preventative initiatives and deliver training sessions on injury preventation, rehabilitation, return to work, safety and wellbeing  
  • Increase understanding, awareness, accountability and engagement for health management, safety and fitness for work for all IRT employees  
  • Apply risk management strategies to mitigate psychosocial issues. 
  • Possess a detailed knowledge of relevant legislation and policies applicable to health, wellbeing and injury management. 
  • Provide coaching support and assistance to supervisors in effective practices for engaging with employees and proactively discussing staff wellbeing needs relevant to their program area. 
  • Extensive involvement in workplace rehabilitation, managing Workers’ compensation claims, and facilitating effective return-to-work processes. 
  • Generate and contribute to operational and strategic reports to inform local and senior leader ot trends and insights into the portfolio performance  
  • Travel as required 

To Be Successful You Will Have

  • Tertiary qualifications as an allied health professional with minimum 2+ years industry experience 
  • Current Return-To-Work Coordinator accreditation  
  • Experience in injury management, workers' compensation, and return to work facilitation experience 
  • Strong working knowledge and/or experience in a similar industry  
  • Demonstrated knowledge of WHS legislation and guidelines and workers compensation legislation (NSW, ACT & QLD) 
  • Experience in coordinating and facilitating wellbeing initiatives, programs, seminars and webinars
