This opportunity

As Senior Data Scientist in the newly established Data and Analytics Centre of Excellence (CoE), you will be largely focused on building or enhancing the advanced analytics solutions that support various product lines and functions within TPG Telecom. In addition, you will be working very closely with business stakeholders to understand business’ strategy and objectives as well as their and customers’ pain points to identify opportunities for change.

You possess a strong business acumen and judgment, has a natural curiosity and a strong motivation to solve problems. You are comfortable with ambiguity, a fast-paced environment, and shifting priorities. Above all, you have a ‘can-do’ attitude with a bias for action over academic perfection.

Responsibilities

Model Development and Improvement: Develop, implement, and continuously improve advanced data models using machine learning and statistical techniques to solve complex business problems and generate insights. Data Analysis and Interpretation: Conduct deep data analysis using various data sources, and interpret results to understand trends, patterns, and relationships in the data. Provide actionable insights to stakeholders. Collaboration and Knowledge Sharing: Collaborate with other data scientists, analysts, and business stakeholders. Actively share knowledge and best practices within the Centre of Excellence and contribute to a culture of continuous learning and improvement. Business Problem Solving: Work closely with business stakeholders to understand their challenges and requirements. Translate these business problems into analytical questions and use data to provide solutions. Documentation and Presentation: Document the methodologies, code, and results of data analysis and modelling. Present the findings in a clear and compelling manner to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Knowledge and experience

Machine Learning and Statistical Modelling: Hands-on experience in developing and implementing various machine learning models and statistical techniques, such as regression, clustering, and time series analysis. Programming and Data Manipulation: Proficiency in programming languages, primarily Python or R, and experience in data manipulation using libraries such as Pandas, NumPy, and data visualization tools. Big Data Technologies: Experience working with big data technologies such as Apache Spark, Hadoop, and knowledge of SQL for extracting and manipulating large datasets. Cloud Computing: Experience working with cloud platforms, such as AWS, Azure or GCP, and familiarity with cloud-based data science tools and services. Domain Knowledge and Problem Solving: Experience in applying data science to solve real-world business problems, with a strong ability to understand domain-specific data and business processes. This includes having an analytical mindset and being able to approach problems creatively.
