The Role
Defence is seeking a highly motivated and skilled professional for the role of Technical Security Capability Development Manager, in the Technical Surveillance Countermeasures team. The candidate will lead a small multi-role technical team responsible for the research and development that underpins Defence’s technical security capability.

About our Team
The Technical Security Capability Development team is a dynamic and highly skilled unit dedicated to advancing Defence’s technical security capability. Comprising of technicians and engineers, this small multidisciplinary team provides overarching support to technical security operations, in their role as a security protection layer against technical surveillance threats to Defence.
The team contributes to safeguarding sensitive information by applying engineering principles and methodologies to complex technical matters, leveraging cutting-edge technologies and innovative approaches for delivering new capability to stay at the forefront of technology and enhancing and modernising existing capabilities. In addition, the team draws upon staff’s technical knowledge and expertise for the development and sustainment of technical training packages to ensure currency of key skillsets.
Our Ideal Candidate
Our ideal candidate is a critical thinker with a comprehensive understanding of Defence’s operating environment, and a demonstrated interest in emerging technologies and its uses within a security context. They will have an Engineering Degree in the field of Electronics or Radio Frequency technologies. The successful candidate will have demonstrated experience in managing teams, leading projects, teaching groups and should be able to present, and tailor, presentations to a wide range of customers with varying technical experience.
The successful candidate will manage a technical workshop with various tools and processes so exposure to WHS requirements, regulations and policy would be an advantage. Prior knowledge of, or experience in, managing budgets and/or Defence’s procurement processes would also be an advantage. Further skills that would be looked upon favourably include prior use and knowledge of radiation equipment and safety regulations, electrical work and safety, and previous TSCM experience.
