A bit about the role

The Youth Outreach Coordinator at Youth Projects is a senior leadership position responsible for managing operational and strategic objectives across our youth outreach programs. This role requires strong leadership skills to execute and achieve deliverables within timelines, support our teams working with people with complex needs, and embed a culture of strengths-based service delivery and non-judgmental approach to client service. In addition, the Youth Outreach Coordinator is responsible for developing and maintaining strategic relationships with funding bodies and community organisations in the youth sector.

The Youth Outreach Coordinator reports to the Executive Manager of Community Health and works closely with health and welfare professionals, both internally and externally. The role requires a detailed understanding of Harm Reduction principles, Youth AOD best practice, and the Social Model of Health.

Key requirements:

  • Demonstrated organisational skills within AOD or harm reduction service environment.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience in a complex environment.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing productive strategic relationships that strengthen programs and organisational outcomes

This role is a 9-month secondment (Until 30th of June 2025)

Through formal education and experience (both formal and lived), you have developed high-level leadership skills to enable you to execute and achieve deliverables within timelines and manage and provide oversight when working with people who have complex needs.

You understand the importance of balancing client outcomes, clinical governance, and developing a strong team culture all while keeping the service humming along. You are able to prioritise tasks, support your team and coordinate service delivery, all while balancing lots of plates in the air. You know the importance of coaching and developing your team which will include entry-level social and youth workers.

Shifting gears with ease

You can switch from writing a report on the impact of your program to debriefing to one of your team members in the blink of an eye. You can flex your approach up and down. You know the importance of boundaries and frameworks but are an active listener and tailor your coaching and support based on the needs of the people you are working with. Changing lives is your passion but you still embrace rolling up your sleeves and mucking in to get the job done.
