About the Role

We are looking for an outstanding leader to drive the strategic vision and operational success of Racing Victoria. In this executive role, you will oversee all facets of racing operations, including handicapping, race scheduling, and engagement with key racing stakeholders. Your leadership will ensure Racing Victoria continues to deliver exceptional racing experiences across the state.

Key Responsibilities

As a senior executive, you will lead and manage the Racing team, ensuring optimal performance and alignment with Racing Victoria's strategic objectives.

This role involves overseeing a range of programs, including racing operations, scheduling, handicapping (including ratings and classifications), international recruitment, and the VOBIS racing and breeding schemes. Your leadership will be key in upholding Victoria's reputation for excellence in racing and fostering relationships with our diverse stakeholder network.

In addition to your operational responsibilities, you will represent Racing Victoria in the development and execution of strategic initiatives. A critical aspect of this role involves collaborating with industry stakeholders and racing experts, participating in subcommittees, and facilitating industry-wide racing forums.

You will also take an active role in Board meetings and represent Racing Victoria on both national and international committees, shaping the strategic direction of Racing Victoria and contributing to the overall progress of the industry.

Key Skills & Experience Required

Extensive Industry Knowledge: Comprehensive understanding of the Victorian, national, and international racing industry, including in-depth familiarity with rules, regulations, handicapping procedures, and industry frameworks.

Leadership Excellence: Proven leadership capabilities, with a strong history of successfully managing diverse teams and overseeing complex operations.

Media & Public Engagement: Significant experience in media relations, with the ability to perform confidently in public-facing and ‘on-air’ roles.

Exceptional Interpersonal Skills: Strong interpersonal skills, adept at managing conflict and navigating complex environments with diplomacy and tact.

Strategic Vision: Demonstrated ability to connect operational challenges with broader financial and business goals, ensuring alignment with organisational objectives.

Communication Proficiency: Superior verbal and written communication skills, with the capability to engage effectively with a wide array of stakeholders.

Strategic & Financial Leadership: Extensive experience in strategic planning, financial oversight, and leading organisations within the racing industry or related sectors.

Cultural Leadership & Innovation: Strong ability to cultivate an inclusive, high-performance culture while fostering innovation and driving continuous improvement across all areas of responsibility.
