About the Role

We are seeking an exceptional leader to oversee Racing Victoria's commercial, wagering, financial, and other corporate services to drive the organisation's strategic vision of 'Racing for All.' This role focuses on ensuring the financial sustainability and commercial growth of thoroughbred racing in Victoria through effective strategy development and execution. The ideal candidate will have a strong commercial track record, a deep understanding of the wagering industry, a proven track record of financial management, and the ability to lead and inspire teams to achieve ambitious goals.

Key Responsibilities

This role will lead Racing Victoria's strategic planning efforts, working closely with the CEO, executive team, board, and key stakeholders to ensure the effective execution of strategies and monitor progress towards the organisation's objectives. Adapting to industry changes and contributing to relevant boards and sub-committees will also be vital to driving long-term goals.

Key deliverables include developing Racing Victoria's wagering strategy, including managing wagering policy settings to maximise customer and industry engagement and driving key strategic relationships with Wagering Service Providers (WSPs).

The role will partner with RV's Media business (RDCM) in the development and execution of the media rights strategy with a focus on expanding customer engagement and national and global reach.

Commercially, driving revenue growth through new business development, partnerships, and optimised commercial opportunities, while building strong relationships with stakeholders, partners, and sponsors is critical to success.

You will oversee Racing Victoria's financial performance to ensure ongoing financial sustainability, including identifying opportunities for process improvements, operating efficiencies, and optimising industry funding. In addition, this role will provide leadership to build strong, diverse teams that drive the strategic direction of the business to corporate services functions such as Digital and Technology.

Key Skills & Experience Required

• Proven executive-level experience in financial management, strategy development, and execution.
• Deep understanding and experience in wagering markets, with a strategic and operational focus.
• Strong leadership and change management skills, with the ability to navigate complex organisational shifts.
• Demonstrated ability to develop and execute strategic plans that align with long-term goals.
• Exceptional problem-solving abilities with creative, flexible, and innovative solutions to complex challenges.
• Executive-level capability to build and maintain positive, collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
• Strong communication, negotiation, and influencing skills, shaping outcomes and guiding future strategic directions.
• Senior-level experience in the sports, wagering, or entertainment sector is essential.
