We are Australia’s largest pure-play coal producer generating over $10 billion in Foreign Direct Investment; owning, operating or participating in coal mines across NSW, Queensland and Western Australia. 

Owned and Operated by Yancoal Australia, Mount Thorley Warkworth (MTW) is one of the largest open pit operations in the area. Located 15 kilometres south-west of Singleton in the beautiful Hunter Valley region of New South Wales, MTW relies on both draglines and load haul systems as the current and preferred mining method. Our site operates continuously 24 hours a day, seven days a week and has a long and proud history, employing approximately 1400 people from local and surrounding communities, who are our most valuable asset. 

Job Tasks and Responsibilities

The primary responsibility for this role is to deliver optimum infrastructure at minimum cost. The role will also require you to: 
•    Support in maintaining statutory compliance including incident investigation process, risk management and documents management;
•    Conduct failure analysis on downtime and critical component failures;
•    Scope, design and implement site engineering projects;
•    Identify and implement initiatives to improve safety, reliability and reduce costs;
•    Optimize maintenance strategies and tactics;
•    Collaborate closely with the maintenance and planning teams to implement and generate continuous improvement initiatives.
 

Skills and Experience

The successful candidates will display the Yancoal – ‘Our Way’ behaviours in everyday practice and foster a ‘One Team’ culture along with promoting the Yancoal Values of People, Safety, Innovation, Integrity and Excellence. To be successful in the role you will also display the following skills and attributes:

•    Tertiary qualifications in Mechanical Engineering and/or Mechanical Trade with extensive OEM/Mining operational experience;
•    A minimum of 5+ years experience working with open cut mining;
•    Experience in Risk Management and Document Management;
•    Experience in Project Management;
•    Condition monitoring, FMECA and RCA experience is advantageous but not required;
•    Experience in leading and defining maintenance strategies and tactics;
•    Ability to work autonomously and within a large team environment;
•    Detailed knowledge of CMMS systems, with specific knowledge of SAP;
•    Proficient in conducting statistical analysis downtime data and CMMS data.
