Job Opportunity:
We are seeking an individual who is intelligent, passionate and who is always striving towards excellence. This position is a great fit for an Underwriter / Senior Underwriter in Sydney or Melbourne, looking to expand their responsibilities and underwriting knowledge with an experienced and well-regarded unit within a top global insurance company. Whilst a background in Contractors Plant & Equipment (CP&E) is preferable, if you have experience as a broker, motor / heavy motor underwriting, loss adjusting or deep knowledge of heavy machinery looking to build a career in Underwriting we would love to discuss this opportunity with you.
Our expectations are for the teammate to be able to learn new products and have the ability to work both independently and collaboratively with all levels and discipline. You should be comfortable working closely and collaboratively with teammates within the marine team and across functional areas.
In addition, necessary character, relationship building and negotiating skills to help lead and further build a profitable book of business are of the upmost importance. The successful candidate will be focused on a positive customer experience, whilst understanding or learning to maintain a sound underwriting discipline. You will enjoy working in a fast-paced, bottom line-oriented environment.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Developing business throughout NSW or VIC for Contractors Plant & Equipment. Establish, develop, and expand broker and customer relationships. Contribute towards the growth of the Marine lines business focusing on the profitable growth of the CP&E business. Underwrite New Business, Renewals, and Endorsements while ensuring appropriate analysis and documentation. Promote other marine product lines and services to increase penetration in the market. Cross-Sell other lines of business to increase the BHSI product density with the account. Conduct internal self-audits. As a senior underwriter you would contribute to the development or modification of policy wording.Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
Prior underwriting experience is not required however, knowledge and understanding of motor, heavy motor or plant & equipment in any profession is required. The experience and ability to develop strong broker and customer relationships quickly or existing broker and customer relationships. Strong collaboration and team-building skills. Strong communication skills including negotiation, communications and presentation experience. Degree or equivalent education/ experience.BHSI Offers:
