people2people is working closely with this Victorian State Government department which is seeking a Lawyer on an initial 5 month assignment located in the Melbourne CBD. 
This is a part time of full time role, with hybrid working available.

The Role:This role will be to provide your extensive legal advice to a range of multiple stakeholders & to perform legal duties that are aligned with the entity's policies and procedures to ensure the most effective outcomes.
This role is available on a part-time or full time bases.

Duties will be, but are not limited to: 
- Draft, negotiate, and settle legal contracts responses
- Provide efficient legal advice to the department on FOI requests
- Work closely with the Senior Investigation & Legal Officers
- Implement legal precedent and knowledge to support the department in meeting its objectives
- Communicating with other Government departments to ensure legislation compliance

To be eligible for this role you must have:

- Current legal practising certificate and legal admission in Victoria
- Demonstrated experience in government legal matters, particularly within the education sector
- Demonstrated case management experience, with a sound understanding of privacy and freedom of information
