Overview of the Team

The National Regulatory Programs Team is responsible for the design, delivery and review psychosocial regulation programs and initiatives, as well as the performance of Comcare’s authorisations functions. The team is part of the service delivery arm of Regulatory Operations Group that administers the Work Health and Safety Act 2011 (WHS) through a variety of prevention, assurance and enforcement activities including:

  • workplace inspections,
  • awareness raising activities, 
  • audits; and 
  • investigations. 

Prevention is the primary focus through targeted intelligence driven stakeholder engagement, education and audit programs. The range of response and intervention following a safety incident includes investigation and justice outcomes through enforcement activity.

Overview of the Roles

APS5 Inspector, Pyschosocial Regulation

Under limited direction, the Inspector Psychosocial Regulation supports and undertakes a range of WHS regulatory activities specific to psychosocial risk in accordance with relevant legislation, policy and procedures.  This work includes WHS related prevention programs, campaigns, health and safety audits, stakeholder engagement, presentations, inspections and investigations across a wide range of industries. 

The role delivers and assists with driving the provision of timely, high-quality services, in a nationally consistent and regional service delivery environment. 

The role requires working as a team and working collaboratively with a wide range of stakeholders including employers, workers, complainants, Health and Safety Representatives, employer associations, unions and federal and state government agencies.

APS6 Senior Inspector, Pyschosocial Regulation

The Senior Inspector, Psychosocial Regulation leads the management of a range of WHS regulatory activities specific to psychosocial risk in accordance with relevant legislation, policy and procedures under minimal direction and supervision. This work includes WHS related prevention programs, campaigns, health and safety audits, stakeholder engagement, presentations, inspections, and investigations across a wide range of industries. 

The role delivers and assists with driving the provision of timely, high-quality services, in a nationally consistent and regional service delivery environment. 

The role requires working in a team environment and working collaboratively with a wide range of stakeholders including employers, workers, complainants, Health and Safety Representatives, employer associations, unions, and federal and state government agencies.

Mandatory Qualifications/Experience

  • Obtain a Diploma of Government (Workplace Inspection) within 18 months of engagement.
  • Achieve and maintain appointment as an Inspector under the WHS Act.

Eligibility and Specific Conditions of Employment

  1. Australian citizenship.
  2. Character clearance (police records check).
  3. Health clearance.
  4. Six months probationary period for new engagements.
  5. Hold and maintain a motor vehicle driver licence for at least a motor car.
  6. Some intra and interstate travel is required, including overnight absences.
  7. Ability to obtain and maintain a Baseline Security Clearance.
