Our client is a US-based Audio Visual Design company that offers commercial audio and video systems planning, design, & installation services to businesses in Florida and throughout the USA.

About The Role:

We are seeking an Audio Visual System Designer with proven experience integrating A/V systems. (Not looking for sound/audio engineers) This role will include a wide range of design solutions to support sales and installations of integrated Video Conferencing, Audio Conferencing, Meeting Rooms and Presentation systems, Paging systems, Displays, and Digital Signage. Your utmost responsibility will be to design and draft documentation that fulfills the user requirements of the customer and sales representative. Must be able to create technical drawings and cable schedules, as well as be familiar with building design, AV symbols and construction documents. Also, the applicant should be extremely comfortable with all cabling types, and cable installation practices, as well as rack wiring and device installations from screens, projectors, video walls and custom furniture.

Some Responsibilities Include:
  • Design a system for Pre Sale Estimate with estimated labor time and bill of materials
  • Review scope of work and sales order with Sales and Technical teams
  • Assist sales with preliminary scope of work, estimated installation hours, estimated programming hours, and equipment list
  • Design systems and cable schedules according to customer needs
  • Perform Site surveys when necessary on larger scale projects
  • Preparation of complete AV plans that include but are not limited to: Line Diagrams, Bill of Materials, Scope of Work, and Rack Elevations. These are for commercial projects of varying sizes, complexity, and budgets. Plans will use industry-standard notation, show placement of AV equipment, include a wiring diagram, show headend components and specifications and provide GC callouts. Projects will include the requirement to revise plans throughout the project to reflect changes in design requirements and to prepare as-built drawings.
  • Responsible for staying current on technological developments in the AV field including new hardware and software. Will also be called upon, from time to time, to become familiar with older and possibly obsolete equipment currently being used in customer premises which may need to be replaced or repaired.

Qualifications:
  • 3+ years of designing complex AV solutions experience required
    • 2+ years of AV products (e.g. Crestron, Extron, Biamp, QSC, Atlas, Harman) experience required
    • 1+ years of proposals and bids support experience required
    • 1+ years of CAD (or similar) experience required
    • 1+ years of Visio (or similar) experience required
    • 1+ years of estimating software experience required
    • Certified Technology Specialist certification required
  • AV Design/project engineering, preferably with a leading Systems Integrator of Audiovisual, Videoconferencing and Unified Communications Systems; candidates with similar skills and experience in technology vendor or end-user environment should apply
  • Demonstrate technical writing responses and formal documentation in a written and graphic format
  • Excellent analytical, diagnostic and problem-solving skills
  • Outstanding people skills, High ethical standards, and work ethic, and solid communications skills
  • Must be able to present technical and non-technical information clearly and in a compelling manner
  • Technical knowledge of 3 or more of the following required: Audiovisual Equipment, Videoconferencing Endpoints, Network Equipment, Network Services, Hardware, Software, and Managed Services offerings
  • Other industry certification such as DMC-E, EAVA, CVE, ACE also helpful
  • Knowledge of AV Signal Flow Required
  • Some control systems DSP programming helpful: AMX, Crestron, Extron
  • Must be knowledgeable in the use and integration of AV equipment, as well as in the installation of said equipment
  • Some Knowledge of IP Networking, including routing protocols and VoIP, SIP, H.323, videoconferencing applications
