Our client is a leading, global, private investment firm with an exceptional track record and reputation in Australia. We are seeking an Investment Associate to join the investment team to work across the firm’s special situations and private debt strategies in Australia. The fund utilises global pools of institutional capital raise/ deployed internationally. They boast a highly-regarded investment team, creating excellent learning opportunities for junior investors. Deal-flow is exceptionally high leading to year on year headcount growth for the team in Australia. The role would be rotational through the private debt and special situations strategies. The private debt strategy provides senior secured, unitranche and TLB structures to mid and large-cap corporates. The special situations strategy invests across the capital stack. They are active investors in large cap distressed, growth equity and common equity transactions.
We are seeking candidates with 2-4 years’ experience post university. This experience will most likely come from tier one investment banks in the general industrials, financial sponsors or leveraged finance functions. Candidates should have an interest in, and understanding as to why they want to consider, special situations or debt investing over private equity. Candidates will come with exceptional financial modelling skills, be critical thinkers and be able to apply their advisory background into an investment mindset. It is most likely candidates will come with exceptional academic backgrounds.
As an Investment Associate, you will be part of a small nimble team of investors. Your role will be execution focused, involving deal due diligence, financial modelling, investment paper documentation, presentations to IC etc. An opportunity such as this can catapult an Analyst or Associate level candidate into a prosperous investing career. Our client is focused on developing a global talent pool and is committed to creating a programme for career pathways through the fund’s global network of offices. In addition to this, the role will work as part of a wider Asia team, providing some breadth across developed and emerging markets.
