Sydney, Australia BOQ Full time

About the Role

Are you ready to take your career to the next level? As a Senior Analyst at BOQ Group, you’ll be at the heart of our mission to ensure the integrity and accuracy of our models. This isn’t just any role, it’s a chance to make a real impact across multiple facets of our business including Group Risk, Finance, Treasury, Retail Banking and Business Banking.

The Senior Analyst supports the Senior Manager to validate BOQ Group’s models and ensure they meet our high standards. Innovate and create cutting-edge tools that will streamline our validation processes. Lead and inspire by conducting walkthroughs of key processes and models, identifying risks, and proposing innovative solutions. Dive into data, extracting and analysing information from key systems to support your findings. Think outside the box to identify and implement pragmatic alternative modelling approaches and assumptions. Collaborate and connect with business units including Credit Risk, Treasury Finance and more. Educate and empower business partners about their responsibilities with well-defined validation approaches and tests. Provide coaching and mentoring to staff developing and maintaining models, helping them excel in their roles. Build relationships by fostering trusted and productive connections with both internal and external stakeholders.

About you

You’ll be a validation whiz with experience in Credit Risk modelling.  Expertise in Market Risk modelling, Balance Sheet Management, Stress Testing and other relevant disciplines is also highly valued. And while experience in model validation or model risk is a plus, we also welcome candidates from model development, consulting or internal audit backgrounds. A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Finance, Physics, Actuarial Studies, Mathematics or Economics is required, and a postgraduate degree in similar subjects is desirable, as are CFA or FRM qualifications.

You must have strong quantitative, analytical, and problem-solving skills. Coding experience in at least one of VBA, Python, C++, R, SAS or SQL, as well as advanced Excel skills, is essential. The ability to grasp and explain both quantitative and qualitative risk management concepts is crucial along with a keen attention to detail and a proactive approach to checking the accuracy of your work, and you must be able to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders effectively.
