About the Neonatal Services at Mercy Hospital for Women:
We are leaders in newborn intensive and special care in Australia. Our Neonatal Services, with 61 cots, caters to over 1500 newborns annually, making us one of Victoria's largest providers. We're renowned for delivering the highest quality care with exceptional patient outcomes. We care for neonates from 22 weeks gestation, requiring acute intensive care and stabilisation and transfer of newborns requiring surgery.

A Collaborative Approach:
Our strength lies in multidisciplinary teamwork, we have an open-plan unit that allows for collaboration and support at all times. We offer numerous opportunities for career growth in nursing and research. Working in conjunction with our Tertiary Maternity Service, state retrieval service (PIPER), and the state's surgical centres, we provide immediate stabilisation and long-term care for newborns with complex conditions.

About the Role:
Our Neonatal Services operates two FTE of Nurse Unit Managers (NUM) roles who lead and drive the daily operations and staff management across NICU and SCN.
As NUM you will have responsibility for the clinical and operational outcomes and management of staff within Neonatal ServicesA key focus of this role is to provide effective leadership and strategic direction within the unit where you will act as a role model and form an integral part of a multi-disciplinary teamThis leadership role will encompass the strategic planning of financial, capital, human and physical resourcesYou will co-ordinate and manage the day to day operations to ensure high quality clinical practices and patient care in Neonatal Services Pivotal to this role will be developing and maintaining collaborative relationships internally with other departments, and with external stakeholders to facilitate patient careAbout you:
We are looking for a strong leader who is enthusiastic, passionate and driven with exceptional people management skills and extensive experience working in Neonatal Services to take on this key role. You will have:
Registration as a Registered Nurse with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)Postgraduate qualification in Neonatal Intensive Care is essentialPostgraduate degree (or working towards) in hospital or health services, administration, management or equivalent qualification will be highly regardedPrior experience in management including demonstrated experience in change management and clinical innovationDemonstrated ability to lead, coach, and mentor a team to maximise performanceExcellent verbal and written communication skillsStrong attention to detail and critical thinking skillsAwareness and understanding of financial and budgetary processesAbout us:
Mercy Hospital for Women is a fully accredited Level 6 Public Specialist Teaching Hospital providing both public and private patient care through maternity services, neonatology and paediatrics, perioperative services, gynaecology, women's health and associated health, support and diagnostic services. We are a major teaching hospital and specialist referral centre with the medical, nursing, midwifery and allied health expertise to treat the most complex obstetric, neonatal and gynaecological cases.
