Hobart, Australia CPB Contractors Full time

CPB Contractors is the CIMIC Group's construction company and a leading international construction contractor, with operations across Australia, New Zealand and Papua New Guinea.

Combining the expertise and track record formerly delivered by Leighton Contractors and Thiess, we deliver projects spanning all key sectors of the construction industry, including roads, rail, tunnelling, defence and building.

The position of Senior Sustainability Advisors sits with CPB Contractors who are in partnership with TasWater, UGL and WSP to build and enhance TasWater's capability in a range of operational and strategic areas such as safety, project controls, estimating and program management.

About the Opportunity:

This is a great opportunity for you to work on the first ever infrastructure project in Tasmania to undertake both a Design and As Built Infrastructure Sustainability (IS) rating. You will also obtain invaluable experience working on a significant wastewater treatment plant upgrade for Hobart and gain exposure to all engineering disciplines including Mechanical, Chemical, Civil and Structures, where you can challenge the status quo and drive sustainable outcomes across the project and alliance

The key responsibilities of the role include:

  • Lead the integration of Sustainability Requirements - the incorporation of sustainability objectives across the Project, ensuring alignment with the organisation’s vision to reduce lifecycle carbon emissions and compliance with industry rating tools such as ISC.
  • Stakeholder Engagement and Management - balance diverse stakeholder requirements and expectations, with a strong competence in negotiation and conflict resolution.
  • Support and develop team members with a strong culture of continuous improvement and deliberate career progression milestones.
  • Lifecycle Project Management - Demonstrated ability to manage sustainability initiatives throughout the project lifecycle of design, procurement and construction.
  • Risk and Opportunity Management - Assess and prioritise management of risks and opportunities related to sustainability related risks associated with design and delivery of the project
  • Sustainability Metrics and Reporting - Develop and implement systems for tracking, analysing, and reporting sustainability metrics, providing transparency and accountability for project outcomes.

What will you have to be successful?

  • At least five years proven experience in the sustainability sector within the infrastructure industry, demonstrating a track record of increasing responsibility and complexity in project management
  • Experience in delivering sustainability rating tools such as Infrastructure Sustainability (IS) ratings
  • Leadership qualities - ability to influence internal and external stakeholders and drive the sustainability agenda at a strategic level.
  • Well-developed communication skills - ability to build and maintain relationships with a broad range of subcontractors, local authorities, internal staff and stakeholders
  •  Proven track record in working collaboratively to embed sustainability into core business practices and project delivery.
  •  Strategic thinker - experienced in managing substantial projects from design to delivery, aiding in informed decision-making to enhance the organisation's sustainability objectives.
  • Infrastructure Sustainability Accredited Professional (ISAP) (highly desirable)

What we offer:

  • A chance to be part of the first ever Design and As Built IS rating on an infrastructure Project in Tasmania and lead and influence sustainable outcomes in delivering a significant wastewater treatment plan upgrade.
  • A role in pioneering industry-leading strategies to minimise carbon emissions.
  • An opportunity to grow with an Organisation that values its people with clear sustainability objectives to drive success.
  • A collaborative environment where your passion for sustainability aligns with our project goals.
