Job Summary:  

Collarcare® are partnered with health services across Australia and we are currently seeking Registered Nurses for hospital contracts in NSW. As a Mental Health Registered Nurse, you will be responsible for assessing, planning, and delivering nursing care to patients with mental health issues. You will work closely with patients to develop and implement treatment plans, monitor their progress, and provide therapeutic interventions. Collaboration with a multidisciplinary team and effective communication with patients and their families are key aspects of this role. 

About the role: 

  • Assess patients' mental health status and needs through interviews and observations. 
  • Develop and implement individualized care plans in collaboration with the healthcare team. 
  • Provide direct nursing care, including administering medications and monitoring effects. 
  • Conduct therapeutic interventions and provide support to patients experiencing mental health crises. 
  • Monitor and document patient progress, changes in condition, and response to treatment. 
  • Educate patients and families about mental health conditions, treatment options, and coping strategies. 
  • Collaborate with psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, and other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive care. 
  • Ensure a safe and supportive environment for patients, addressing any safety or behavioral concerns promptly. 

Key Requirements: 

  • Current registration as a Registered Nurse with AHPRA. 
  • Triage experience and / certification  
  • Current National Police Check  
  • NDIS Clearance / Willingness to Obtain  
  • ALS, BLS and PALS Certification 
  • 1 year of experience working in an Australian Health Setting  
  • Previous experience in mental health or psychiatric nursing is highly desirable. 
  • Strong understanding of mental health disorders and therapeutic interventions. 
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to handle sensitive situations. 
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
