**About the role**:
As the Allied Health Assistant you will work alongside an Occupational Therapist to facilitate the weekend group program. Hours are 7am-3.30pm Saturdays and 8am-4.30pm Sundays. The Saturday program can include attending handover, community access program e.g. Park Run, facilitating morning meetings, supporting community/social/leisure groups and grocery shopping. The Sunday Program can include light exercise/walking group, social cooking group and creative activities.

**Where you will be working**:
The Intermediate Stay Mental Health Unit (ISMHU) is a 20 bed non-acute mental health rehabilitation unit located on the grounds of James Fletcher Hospital, Newcastle. The unit is staffed by a multidisciplinary team who collaborate to provide recovery-oriented care for people with enduring mental health problems and psychosocial disability. People stay for 6 to 12 weeks to develop skills, confidence, self-awareness, habits, and relationships that will contribute to a more meaningful and enjoyable life. The ISMHU team collaborate to provide high quality, person centred and value-based rehabilitation care.
The successful applicant will have on shift supervision and guidance from the Occupational Therapist who will generate work tasks and provide direct supervision as well as taking part in individual and team based staff development opportunities.
