MEC Mining is a global mining consultancy specialising in mine planning, onsite management and technical services solutions for the international mining industry.
  
Due to the increase of upcoming national and international projects, we are currently seeking a Senior Geotechnical Engineer to join our Perth or Brisbane based team.
  
Reporting to the Manager of Geotechnical Services, you will work with our Geotechnical Team to provide support for our clients both locally and internationally.
  
Key Responsibilities:
  

  • Providing geotechnical advice to mining operations, to ensure geotechnical risks are effectively identified, managed and controlled.
  • Providing geotechnical input into both short & long-term production planning and scheduling processes
  • Data analysis, geotechnical design and continuous improvement activities
  • Providing guidance to the engineering team responsible for the day-to-day operations, including open pit or underground assessments when/where required

  
Qualifications & Experience:
  

  • A degree in Civil/Geotechnical/Mining Engineering or Geology is required (essential)
  • Relevant post graduate education relating to Geomechanics or Geotechnical Engineering
  • 5+ years site operational experience in a geotechnical engineering role within the resource sector
  • Experience with various monitoring instruments, ground support, core logging and mapping.
  • Capability with geotechnical engineering software (i.e. Vulcan, Deswik, Rocscience suite and Map3D)

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with a variety of stakeholders including management, technical professionals and operational personnel at all levels
  • The drive to become a consultant an expert in your field
  • Previous track record in building credibility within the local mining industry
  • Excellent interpersonal and technical report writing skills
  • Strong analytical ability and strategic capability
