The RoleWe are seeking mid-level Geotechnical Engineers to join our tailings team in Brisbane, Queensland. The ideal candidate will have a demonstrated experience in tailings dam design with knowledge of the design principals for upstream & downstream embankment dams, concrete faced and geomembrane lined rockfill dams, spillways and water management systems.
You will hold a bachelor's degree in civil/geotechnical/geo-environmental engineering with a minimum of 5 years post-graduate experience preferable from a consulting environment. A mix of design office and site-based experience would be considered favourably.
Key Responsibilities- Assist with the planning, execution, and acquisition of quality field data and when appropriate, the analysis of this geotechnical data including geotechnical logging and mapping.
- Compilation and presentation of field investigation results for input, which leads to the creation of design parameters.
- Ensure specifications, design, and analysis meet client requirements.
- Open pit stability and slope Stability;
- Design and construction of Structures like tailings dam and retaining walls;
- Soil liquefaction;
- Ground improvement;
- Site investigations and advanced in-situ testing;
- Earthworks and QA/QC;
- Laboratory testing;
- Numerical modeling and analysis.
The successful candidates will ideally have:
- Degree qualification in Engineering with either Geotechnical or Civil specialisations;
- Minimum of 5 years relevant work experience within the mining industry and experience with earth fill dam construction;
- An understanding in technical aspects of geotechnical investigations, civil/geotechnical designs, documentation, and civil/geotechnical projects;
- Excellent communication and reporting skills;
- A proven track record on site project management and client liaison and able to demonstrate ability to maintain relationships with stakeholders;
- Familiarity with use of Slope/W, Plaxis, FLAC, and AutoCAD software will have added advantages;
- A commitment to travel internationally to a project site if required.

The estimated salary range for this position is between $120,000 - $180,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications.
