What’s on offer?

Our Pipelines department in the delivery of sewer and water construction activities, predominately undertaken in the land development sector across the East & South Eastern Metro Melbourne and West Gippsland are looking for an Safety Advisor to join the Southern Region Construction team. We’re looking for the right person to support the team to great safety outcomes, including guiding the development of a safety cadet

What we’re looking for?

We're looking for a Safety Advisor to support our Pipelines department in construction of sewer and water assets, predominately in the land development & Water Authority sectors. The core duty of the Safety Advisor role is to provide practical, hands-on Safety support and collaboratively work with staff at all levels of the business ensuring best practice standards are being met and exceeded. This position is based at our Noble Park offices & across various construction sites.

As part of your responsibilities, you will work with and support the team by:

  • Ensuring our project and department safety systems are developed, maintained & appropriate for effective implementation.
  • Maintaining our current Safety systems to meet reporting requirements (monthly reporting, objectives & targets monitoring)
  • Encouraging and driving consistency throughout our numerous crews and communicating alternate work methods to assist in developing all of our crews carry out their works to a best practices standard of safety.
  • Developing and implement Safety related plans and procedures i.e. SWMS, HSMPs, etc.
  • Conducting safety assessments, site inspections and monitoring.
  • Liaison and supporting the management of employee injuries and Return to Work processes to achieve the best outcomes.
  • Taking part in worker and plant inductions.
  • Conducting and taking part in risk assessments, including reviewing and implementation of our SWMS and works procedures.
  • Reporting and managing incidents, non-conformances and near misses and coordinate/participate in investigations as required, supported by the Fulton Hogan Region Safety team.
  • Collecting, analysing and updating data for reported injuries, hazards, incidents and near misses.
  • Liaising with project personnel and subcontractors to discuss issues and or incidents and corrective actions.
  • Facilitating the implementation of our D&A policy, including calibrations D&A testing.
  • Reviewing and implementing legislative and regulatory changes relative to the department’s work.
  • Working with the Fulton Hogan Region Training team to coordinate relevant safety training.
  • Drive and champion a culture of self-improvement that is focused on our Living Safely approach.

How you will connect to the role:

  • A safety professional with sound industry experience, inclusive of the Water & Land Development Construction environment is beneficial.
  • Understanding of AS/NZS 45001, OFSC and other accreditation schemes.
  • Sound systems development and implementation within a large contractor safety system environment.
  • A strong commitment to our Living Safely culture and approach.
  • Ability to travel to provide support to our metro and regional teams.
  • Proactive self-starter with great communication skills.
  • Exceptional time management skills with the ability to prioritise workloads.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with all connections to achieve positive outcomes.
