About the Team

BDO’s Tax Quality Team is responsible for the effective operation of our quality management system within the tax business at BDO. The Tax Quality team’s responsibilities include driving BDO’s response to increasing regulation of the tax profession, as well as playing an integral part in delivering efficiency through appropriate systems and technology, supporting the firm’s growth. This role provides an exciting opportunity to be part of the profession’s response to significant regulatory change. 

About the Role

As a Senior Manager, you will be an integral member of the dedicated National Tax Quality team responsible for oversight of the effective operation of BDO’s Systems of Quality Management within the tax business. 

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Drafting and maintaining tax specific firm policies and procedures, and ongoing oversight of implementation, compliance and operational effectiveness. 
  • Assisting with the implementation of firmwide policies and procedures as appropriate to the tax business. 
  • Oversight and administration of the annual peer review program for tax partners. 
  • Responding to operational queries from tax engagement teams on compliance with our independence and risk management systems.
  • Ongoing management and assessment of effectiveness of the tax business processes including process improvements through technology driven enhancements.
  • Responding to regulatory developments, including participation in consultation with professional bodies regarding relevant standards, and crafting of submissions on behalf of BDO when required. 
  • Interacting with National Quality teams (incorporating Ethics and Independence, Engagement Excellence, Regulatory Compliance and Monitoring and Remediation).
  • Design and conduct of appropriate quality training, including graduate induction. 

About You

  • Experience working in a mid-to-large, chartered accounting or law firm, and an understanding of client engagement processes, services provided and financial management in a quality risk management role.
  • Familiarity with the implementation of systems and controls is advantageous.
  • Relevant qualifications or professional accreditations desired.
