About the role

McConnell Dowell has an exciting opportunity for a talented Welding and Coating Inspector to join our project team on the Groote Eylandt Wharf Remediation Project in the Northern Territory. This role plays a crucial part in the successful delivery of a critical project for our client.
  
This role is offered on a fly in fly out basis with competitive rates and allowances and will be based on Groote Eylandt, Northern Territory.
  
Responsibilities include:

  • Overseeing the quality and safety of the welding and coating activities
  • Inspecting and assessing the strength and qualify of all completed welds.
  • Ensuring the correct equipment and materials are being used for a weld.
  • Checking all welding specifications.
  • Checking all Coat specifications.
  • Ensuring all safety regulations are being adhered to.
  • Suggesting alternative welding techniques if required.

About you:

  • CSWIP, or equivalent, is required
  • Trade or relevant Engineering degree
  • Advanced understanding & knowledge of Welding and NDT activities
  • Excellent technical knowledge of welding and materials
  • A strong commitment to maintaining a safe working environment
  • Excellent working knowledge of Australian and international standards and codes
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively as part of a team
  • Experience or willingness to work on a FIFO basis
