About the Role

The Project & Export Finance (“PEF”) team is responsible for the origination, execution, and management of transactions across a variety of industries with a key focus on Resources, Energy, and Infrastructure (“REI”). In this context, the PEF team plays a critical role in fulfilling ANZ’s goal of helping our customers move capital and goods around the region and supporting transition to net zero emissions by . This spans financing activities across renewable energy generation, all forms of infrastructure and natural resources from customers in REI, Financial Institutions, and other industries.

What will your day look like?

Given ongoing activity across these areas, we are seeking to appoint a suitable candidate to the role of Associate Director, Portfolio within Project, and Export Finance (“PEF”) Australia. This is a critical role in the business, with key priorities and responsibilities including the following:

Support the ongoing credit management of the PEF loan portfolio by preparation and management of credit monitoring notes, risk grade events, financial monitoring, waivers, and consents requested by the borrower.

Assist with maintaining the credit quality of the PEF loan portfolio by identifying and escalating credit related matters, including adverse trends and potential risk events, to the relevant decision makers.

As required, support the origination and execution of project and structured finance transactions through financial modelling, analysis, and preparation of proposals and credit submissions.

Assist with the delivery of consistently strong financial results, and a well-managed loan book, for PEF, aligned with long term shareholder interest.

Assist Relationship Managers (RMs) and product partners with identifying cross-sell opportunities within portfolio set.

Maximise returns on the customer account by assisting with timely credit reviews, accurate risk grading, maximising revenues, and minimising losses.

Build & maintain collaborative and effective relationships with RMs, Risk, Corporate Finance, Transaction Management, and other product partners.

Build and leverage an external network to assist with successful client outcomes, with a focus on keeping up to date on developments in the project finance market as well as the resources, energy, and infrastructure sectors.

What will you bring?


To grow and be successful in this role, you will ideally bring the following:

Appropriate tertiary/post graduate qualification.

Solid experience in corporate / project / acquisition or structured finance.

Sound financial and analytical skills with knowledge of the relevant sectors, business, and economic trends.

Strong understanding of credit principles, and financial modelling skills, for complex financings.

Excellent communication skills with particular emphasis on ability to extract relevant information and present in a concise format.

Sound interpersonal, networking and relationship skills.

Team player and ability to work to tight deadlines.
