About the job

SA Water is looking for a forward-thinking Application Specialist with experience to join our team. In this role, you'll leverage your technical expertise to analyse, advise, and support a variety of applications.  These applications focus on critical areas like time series data, Internet of Things (IoT), and energy management. You'll collaborate closely with internal teams and stakeholders to implement changes that optimise these applications while minimising disruption to our business operations.

In addition, your responsibilities will include:

  • Provide technical analysis and advice on applications related to time series data, IoT, and energy management, process incidents, service requests, problems, and changes according to SLAs.
  • Regularly evaluate and standardise support procedures, identifying areas for enhancement. Introduce automation and innovation where possible to improve effectiveness. Collaborate with agile, lean, and DevOps practices.
  • Monitor and report on the availability and performance of supported applications. Assist in upgrading and changing applications with minimal business disruption. Review applications to ensure they continue to meet changing business needs.
  • Work effectively within the team and with key stakeholders to implement necessary changes. Collaborate on project delivery, ensuring minimal impact on business operations. Contribute to creating a culture of service excellence.

Your success in this role will come from:

  • Tertiary qualifications in computer science, engineering or management.
  • Sound knowledge and experience in applications management and development using industry-standard processes such as ITIL, Agile and DevOps.
  • Demonstrated knowledge on programming languages such as SQL, PowerShell Scripts, Python for automation and custom integration is desirable.
  • Experience with Aveva (OSIsoft) PI System, IOT, and Energy Management Space is highly desired.
  • Strong analytical, conceptual thinking, and problem-solving abilities within a technology environment.
  • Excellent communication skills to establish positive working relationships and provide exceptional customer service is essential.
  • Exceptional self-management skills, including work prioritisation and timely delivery of outcomes.
