Remuneration and Benefits is a critical function within our People and Capability team.  It provides the full suite of remuneration, payroll, employee benefits, people systems and reporting services to all our Kmart and Target stores, distribution centres and office team members. The team is driven to provide competitive employee rewards that attract, engage and drive team member performance that ultimately contributes to the continued success of the Kmart Group business across Australia, New Zealand and globally.

An amazing opportunity has arisen in the team for a commercially savvy, versatile senior leader who can successfully traverse the three critical services of people systems, reporting and analytics, and payroll. This role requires an individual who is naturally strategically minded but equally comfortable in delving into the operational detail as required.

What you’ll be doing

As the Head of People Systems, Analytics and Payroll for Kmart and Target you will have accountability for the management, optimisation, and strategic use of the people technology systems landscape, delivering value-add and insightful people data analytics and reporting, and ensuring a fully compliant payroll operation. Specifically, you will:

  • Lead the implementation of new people technology initiatives and enhancements to existing systems and processes.
  • Ensure the delivery of a high functioning, high volume payroll operation for Kmart and Target in Australia and New Zealand (approx. 50,000 team members).
  • Lead the development of a comprehensive people reporting strategy, ensuring timely, accurate, and meaningful HR metrics (KPIs) are available to business leaders.
  • Design and deliver reporting dashboards, workforce analytics, and trend analyses that support key HR functions, including recruitment, talent management, performance management, and compensation.
  • Consult and collaborate closely with internal stakeholders (including senior executives, IT, people and capability, and finance) and external vendors to ensure systems are aligned with organisational needs and regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure accuracy and security of employee data, establishing robust data governance frameworks.
  • Accelerate high performance in a large, diverse skilled team, providing coaching and professional development opportunities to team members, and fostering an environment of continuous learning and improvement.

To be successful in this role you’ll have:

  • Demonstrable experience working in people and technology functions within large corporate environments that are complex, fast paced, and high volume.
  • A proven track record of success in leading, implementing and optimising people technology systems and processes, preferably including SAP SuccessFactors.
  • A highly developed knowledge of compliant payroll operations and time and attendance systems in Australia and New Zealand.
  • Sound capability in people data analytics, data visualisation, statistics and reporting.
  • Natural collaborator, with the ability to build high functioning relationships and engage and influence a wide range of stakeholders, including senior executives and external vendors to aligned outcomes and expectations.
  • Experience in leading and inspiring large teams for high performance.
  • An innovative thinker and ‘can-do’ attitude to seek out and deliver exciting new ideas for the business.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.

Benefits we’ll offer you

  • Flexible hybrid working options through our Flex Where, Flex When, Flex Well policy
  • A team member discount card that gives you a discount at Kmart, Target, Officeworks and Bunnings
