About the Role 

We are currently seeking a Manager or Senior Manager to join our Indirect Tax team in Brisbane. You will be given the chance to work with a multi-disciplinary team of tax professionals that have exceptional technical and industry knowledge (in your chosen area of interest). It's a unique opportunity for those interested in navigating various aspects of indirect tax and developing a wide range of skills while working with clients on federal and state tax matters like goods and services tax (GST), fuel tax credits, stamp duty, land tax and payroll tax.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Provide advice & consultancy services across a range of indirect tax matters
  • Act as a primary point of contact for key clients and managing the client ledgers
  • Working collaboratively with the tax team and also across the BDO business
  • Maintaining and developing relationships with existing clients and being able to identify opportunities to add value
  • Developing new client relationships and identifying opportunities to acquire new work
  • Assist with training and development of the indirect tax team

About You

  • 6+ years’ experience in either GST or state taxes
  • Tertiary qualification in Accounting, Business or Law
  • Demonstrated experience working in a Professional Services, Legal firm, state-based Revenue Office or the ATO
  • Excellent client advisory and communication skills
  • Demonstrated experience working collaboratively as part of a team
  • Ability to lead and mentor junior staff
