About the role:

Tyro is seeking a forward-thinking Payments Industry Relationship Manager to join our team. This individual will have a unique opportunity to drive success for Tyro via engagement and collaboration within the organisation, to define and shape our payments strategy by leveraging external Payments Industry partnerships to further our business objectives.

We’re looking for a self-starter who enjoys variety in their work, builds relationships with ease, quickly and thoroughly, mobilises others via effective communications and has a strong track record of delivering successfully with teams. This role will report to the Head of Payments Product.

What you'll do:

  • Build and manage a successful relationship with payment schemes and be the point of contact for new business opportunities, contract negotiations, managing industry compliance and responding to escalations when needed.

  • Collaborate with product team members to work with key payments industry participants (e.g. digital wallet providers, new payments industry entrants) to identify win-win opportunities.

  • Engage and collaborate with payments industry to represent Tyro’s position in industry forums as a strategic thought leader.

  • Think strategically to grow our business via internal collaboration and using the most impactful levers with industry bodies to drive mutual objectives.

  • Provide payment industry consultation and feedback to product teams to support requirements gathering and delivery of new functionality or improvements to existing integrations.

  • Manage 1 FTE and collaborate with cross team members to execute and deliver on scheme compliance changes and requirements.

  • Develop recommendations on required scheme compliance changes and where required, represent Tyro in applying for exemptions or raising objections.

What you'll bring:

  • Experience working with Australian payments industry bodies and building/managing relationships with schemes, processors and acquirers

  • Demonstrated thorough understanding of schemes in Australia and their roles in the payment ecosystem

  • Very strong interpersonal, presentation, negotiation, and critical thinking skills

  • Strategic thinker with hands on profile and ability to easily communicate to different levels of the organisation.

  • Strong analytic and problem-solving skills and ability to apply payments expertise to commercial situations.

  • Strong negotiation and relationships management skills.

  • Works well under pressure and can pivot quickly and easily

  • People leadership experience.
