Melbourne, Australia RMIT University Full time
Overview:

  • Full-time, Fixed Term position for 3-years

  • Salary Academic Level A6 - B1 (based on experience and qualifications) + 17% Superannuation and Flexible Working Arrangements

  • Based at the Melbourne CBD campus, and hybrid ways of working

About You
Delve into the world of nano-biomaterials engineering and regenerative medicine with our groundbreaking collaborative research project. We seek an outstanding postdoctoral researcher to investigate interactions between nanomaterials and biological molecules (peptides, proteins, RNA/DNA, lipids). Using cutting-edge theoretical and computational methods, you'll model new materials for biosensing, drug delivery, and tissue engineering. Fundamental insights achieved through your quantum chemistry calculations and/or classical Molecular Dynamics simulations will guide the design of nanomaterials with enhanced stability, selectivity, fouling resistance, and catalytic/optical properties in realistic physiological environments.

This collaborative research, supported by the Australian Research Council’s Discovery project, offers a unique opportunity to work with leading experimental researchers from Imperial College London and the University of Oxford (UK) as well as provides a generous access to world-class supercomputers in Australia to ensure high-impact outcomes. Published work in top-tier journals demonstrates our strength for ground-breaking theoretical-experimental collaborations. Join us and seize the chance to advance biomedical applications and propel your career in this cutting-edge field.

To be successful in this position, you’ll meet the following Key Selection Criteria:

  • Demonstrated research track record in computational modelling of organic and inorganic nanomaterials and/or biomolecular systems such as lipid membranes, proteins and RNA/DNA using classical all-atom simulations, including forcefield parameterization and enhanced sampling methods.

  • Emerging track record and recognition for quality research outputs which will contribute to existing Discipline and School research areas evidenced by publications, development of new research initiatives, competitive research funding, and industry links.

  • Demonstrated ability to supervise higher degree by research candidates.

  • Ability to work independently as well as build effective networks with colleagues.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communications skills appropriate for interacting with higher degree by research candidates, staff and industry, together with a strong commitment to teamwork and multidisciplinary collaboration.

  • Mandatory: PhD in Chemistry, Physics or related field.

Please Note: Appointment to this position is subject to passing a Working with Children and National Police Check.
