Security Clearance Required: Negative Vetting Level 1
A Federal Government entity is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Security Administration Officer to join their team in Barton, Canberra. This role involves managing and supporting security clearance processes and performing various administrative duties essential to the security clearance functions.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Processing: Handle criminal records checks and manage electronic security inboxes by responding to queries promptly.
  • Clearance Management: Receive, check, and process clearance applications; liaise with internal and external parties to initiate, monitor, progress, and finalize security clearance processes.
  • Outsourced Services: Manage and support security clearance processes with outsourced vetting providers and other government agencies.
  • Policy and Advice: Provide advice on security clearance requirements as per the Protective Security Policy Framework and Departmental Security Framework.
  • Documentation: Prepare documentation for delegate approval and compile regular compliance reports to manage and forecast workloads.
  • Client Services: Offer assistance at the Federal Government entity’s Security counter and support internal security processes, including remote work and integrity checks.
  • Procedures and Projects: Maintain Standard Operating Procedures for security clearance administration, assist with policy or operational projects, and review DFAT files for destruction in compliance with the Archives Act 1983.
  • Additional Duties: Assist across the section as required and perform other tasks as directed by the team leader or director.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of the Australian Government’s Protective Security Framework.
  • Experience in processing clearance applications and managing high volumes of clearance enquiries.
