About the Role
The School of Agriculture, Food and Ecosystem Sciences seeks an academic passionate about food science to join our Food Science Group. This role involves fostering food science opportunities, teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, and advancing research that benefits the community. Based at the Parkville Campus, the successful candidate will have access to state-of-the-art laboratories and collaborate closely with colleagues and industry partners.
Your responsibilities will include:
Work closely with the Food Science teaching team to deliver undergraduate and postgraduate food science subjects as well as interdisciplinary subjects in relevant programs. Conduct internationally competitive research in the food science and technology area. Prepare and delivery lectures, tutorials, practicals and seminars as appropriate. Actively participate at School meetings and contribute to planning activities or committee work to support capacity building in the School/discipline. Who We Are Looking For
You will have experience supervising research students and possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills to build positive relationships with staff, collaborators, and students. Additionally, you will demonstrate the ability to work collaboratively and collegially within a diverse workforce.
You will also have:
Completion of a PhD in food science and technology or a related discipline Demonstrated experience in food science and expertise in one or more of the following areas: food processing and engineering, food technology, food structure, food chemistry, food microbiology, sensory science. Demonstrated experience, relative to opportunity, in developing engaging undergraduate and/or postgraduate teaching programs. A demonstrated aptitude for independent research, with a sound publication record in relevant areas, commensurate with experience and relative to opportunity. Experience in supervising research students, relative to opportunity.For further information regarding responsibilities and requirements, please refer to the attached PD.

The School is situated across four University campuses, with dedicated agriculture, forest and fire, and urban horticulture facilities that enable a unique hands-on learning experience.
