About the Role


The School of Agriculture, Food and Ecosystem Sciences seeks an academic passionate about production horticulture and first-year teaching. This role involves fostering opportunities within and outside the university, contributing to teaching excellence, and advancing research. The successful applicant will be based at either the Parkville or Burnley Campus, working closely with colleagues in state-of-the-art facilities.

Your responsibilities will include:

Work closely with the first-year teaching team to deliver foundational science and interdisciplinary undergraduate subjects. Prepare and deliver lectures, tutorials, practicals and seminars as appropriate. Conduct internationally competitive research in the area of production horticulture. Actively participate at School meetings and contribute to planning activities or committee work to support capacity building in the School/discipline.

Who We Are Looking For
You will have experience supervising research students and excellent interpersonal and communication skills for building positive relationships with staff, collaborators, and students. Additionally, you will demonstrate the ability to work collaboratively and collegially within a diverse workforce.

You will also have:

Completion of a PhD in agriculture, horticulture, botany, or a related discipline Demonstrated expertise in one or more of the following areas: Horticulture, foundational science, production horticulture, fruit production, vegetable production and protected cropping. Demonstrated experience in developing and delivering engaging and innovative first year teaching programs, relative to opportunity. A demonstrated aptitude for independent research, with a sound publication record in production horticulture, commensurate with experience and relative to opportunity.
