The Role  

The ABC is looking for an experienced Vertical Video expert to lead and drive ABC News content creation on owned and third-party platforms. It can be based in Brisbane, Sydney or Melbourne and is a full time, twelve month contract position. 

The Job 

You will: 

  • Work with ABC News teams to develop, produce and distribute best practice vertical video content for owned and third-party platforms, including TikTok, Instagram Reels, YouTube Shorts and more.
  • Lead a program of work focused on improving vertical video content for ABC News aligned with the Audience-First Strategy, including developing and implementing training sessions, creating and updating workflow guides and reporting on progress.
  • Regularly monitor, analyse and report on social trends and analytics to improve content, increase engagement, and better serve the audience.

About You 

The role would appeal to a social media native with a sharp editorial focus and creative mind. You must have an excellent understanding of vertical video, emerging social media trends and the ability to spot opportunities for ABC News to grow its third-party reach and engagement. Team leadership skills are a must.

Your other skills and experience will also include:

  • Significant experience in leading and influencing teams to create engaging video content for third-party platforms;
  • Ability to use analytics to hone the approach to content creation on social media platforms to continually improve performance;
  • Highly advanced skills in communication and stakeholder management;
  • Proven ability to exercise substantial editorial and creative autonomy and judgement.
