The Senior Cyber Security Business Analyst will support the delivery of key initiatives within the University's Cyber Security ENablement Program ( the Program ), a multi year initiative designed to materially reduce the University's exposure to cyber security risk through the implementation of technology and business changes. The senior level Cyber Business Analyst role's primary purpose is to work closely with the Program's project managers and the University's business units, divisions and process analysis associated with Program initiatives and to support the successful delivery of critical projects.

Specific accountabilities for this role include:

  • Perform a key role in Cyber Security projects, working collaboratively with project managers, project teams, vendors, and business users, including managing project scope, impact assessments, risk analysis, testing and co-ordinating with various stakeholders to ensure successful outcomes.
  • Responsible for the development of detailed business requirements for the implementation of cyber security solutions that will aid the delivery of program objectives.
  • Lead workshops and interviews to drive the development of functional and non-functional requirements in collaboration with relevant technical and non-technical stakeholders and ensure that requirements are clearly communicated amongst stakeholders.
  • Investigation of operational requirements, problems, and opportunities, seeking effective business solutions through improvements in automated and/or process change, including documenting as-is and to-be business processes and impacts to existing operating models and processes.
  • Design and implementation of new support models suitable for the University's environment.
  • Support procurement, design, development, change management, implementation, testing and acceptance activities to ensure successful delivery of cyber security solutions in scope of the program.
  • Developing, maintaining, and managing relationships and communications with technical and non-technical senior stakeholders, meeting challenges with confidence, and dealing with frequently conflicting and/or competing objectives and drivers of stakeholders.

Skills and experience

  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in Cyber Security business analysis, business requirements gathering and analysis and business process analysis using the appropriate frameworks (BABOK).
  • Proficiency and/or experience with cyber security technologies and domains, including Data Security, Data Loss Prevention, Endpoint Protection, Endpoint Detection and Response, Security Incident and Event Management, Security Operations Centre, etc.
  • Understanding of industry-wide security standards and compliance frameworks such as NIST, Essential Eight, SOCI and ISO/IEC 27001, etc.        
  • Excellent communication, facilitation, and inter-personal skills, with the ability to handle high demand situations with management and key stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, ensuring that the underlying problem is understood, and a robust approach / solution is developed in line with University standards and frameworks.
  • Excellent time management skills, with a demonstrated ability to respond to changing priorities, manage multiple tasks and meet competing deadlines by using judgement and initiative.
  • Demonstrated experience working in large, complex Cyber Security transformational programs will be highly regarded.
  • Relevant business analysis AND/OR Cyber Security focussed industry accreditations will also be highly regarded.
